NEW YORK (WCBS) -- World music is underrated. Some of the best musicians in the world, not matter what genre, have roots the are planted in Africa, India, and Asia. Drom is a multi-event venue that is the new venue for world music in the east village. And you don't have to be wearing bright colors or a turban to fit in. there is a no judgement, laid back vibe here--lets face it, i'm pretty caucasian, and when i was there i couldn't help but to notice fellow caucasians getting into the groove and enjoying the music right along with the more ethnic oriented crowd. Of course, this happens all over New york, but you can when you walk in that this place is special. High ceilings, chill atmosphere, sexy decour, and food that is not only diversified and excellent, but reasonably priced. Try the cocktail called "Strawberry Fields Forever," it's ridiculously delicious.
No matter which nest you fly from, perch at Drom for a while and open up your horizons.
