Product Recalls: Acidic Cleaner, Infants Pants, Health Products and More

The following recalls have been announced:
_ About 20,000 bottles of DuPont Heavy Duty Acidic Cleaner. Pressure can build in full and nearly full bottles when they are stored in high temperatures for a long time, causing the cleaner to leak from the cap. There have been two reports of leaking bottles. One consumer reported a skin irritation and another peeling skin. The cleaner was sold at Lowe's stores between March and October 2008. _ About 24,000 Arizona newborn and infant denim pants, manufactured in Bangladesh and imported by JCPenney Co. The metal snap at the waist can come off, posing a choking risk. No incidents have been reported. The pants were sold at JCPenney stores around the country and on the store's Web site between July and October

_ Balanced Health Products Inc. is recalling 1,974 bottles of Starcaps Diet System dietary supplements. They contain bumetanide, a prescription diuretic drug that poses a risk of significant fluid and electrolyte loss. It could also cause low blood pressure and fainting in certain people. Bumetanide could react with digoxin and lithium and lead to an increased risk of toxicity. No incidents have been reported.
The recall includes only 30-capsule bottles from lot number 12/2011-84810. They were distributed to stores and online retailers around the country between August and October 2008. Details: by phone at 212-794-9793.
_ Fashion Sanctuary is recalling all lots of 10-capsule blister cards of Zhen De Shou fat loss capsules, because they contains sibutramine, an FDA-approved appetite suppressant. In certain patients it could increase blood pressure and pulse rate, posing a risk for people with histories of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia or stroke. No incidents have been reported. The capsules were sold by online retailers around the country.
