Mother-Daughter Team Caught in Con

BRONX, NY (WCBS 880)  -- First befriending and then stealing from elderly people, that was their game. Bernice Dewilder and her daughter Raylesha Cage plead guilty to stealing 139,000 dollars from an 84 year old woman named Queen Wilson after she`d had a stroke and was hospitalized, but there was more to this story.

WCBS Fran Schneidau reports.

Investigators learned that the mother in this team of con women had been convicted in Federal Court for collecting a dead man`s Social Security benefits and she`d been ordered to pay 100,000 dollars in restitution.

She still had that money in her bank account gathering interest but she didn`t want to disturb her ill-gotten gains so she stole more using Queen Wilson`s bank account when the old woman was hospitalized in order to pay the federal judgment.
