NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A rare, endangered, Brazilian Ocelot kitten was born at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo last month and it's only the third time artificial insemination has been done successfully. The veterinarian's got their first look at the kitten today.
WCBS Reporter Fran Schneidau finds out more details about the rare birth from Beardsley Zoo Director Gregg Dancho.
"He's about a pound and a half, very small. I mean you could put the kitten...if you held it, it would be like a small loaf of
bread," said Dancho.
Dancho, who got his first close-up with the baby boy ocelot says he's a scrapper.
He can attest that his teeth and claws work very well. Dancho says the public will get its first viewing probably next month.
