WEST BABYLON, NY (WCBS 880) -- Nearly a half-dozen bomb threats over the last three weeks have forced officals at West Babylon High School to ban backpacks, gym bags, and tote bags until further notice.
LISTEN: More Parental Reaction
The latest threat was yesterday.
Students are now required to use clear plastic bags to carry books and other items. This is making for an anxious and frustrating time for staff and students.
Parents, however, are defending the policy, saying, "they have to do something. You can't just ignore them."
When questioned about the no-backpack policy, the parent went on to say tell WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs, "...whatever it takes, whatever it takes."
School officals say they'll continue the high alert security measures for as long as it takes to restore order.
