NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Commuters on the New Haven Line should expect no fare increase until 2010, after the new rail cas come on line.
To pay for those, fares will go up one per cent a year for several years hence.
WCBS Reporter Fran Schneidau spoke with the head of the connecticut Commuter Rail Council, Jim Cameron.
Cameron says the MTA's budget problems should not result in a New Haven Line fare hike for next year.
"Fares in Connecticut are set by Connecticut. They're not set by New York," said Cameron.
However; the MTA does partially fund the New Haven line, and cuts in some jobs and rail services are under consideration.
