NEW YORK (AP) -- Authorities say a high school freshman has been killed by a school bus in Queens.
New York City Department of Education spokeswoman Margie Feinberg says the 14-year-old girl was struck while walking to Francis Lewis High School. She was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital.
The school has called in a crisis team to counsel students and staff.
It's believed about four passengers were on the bus, possibly special education students. It's not clear where the bus was headed when the accident occurred.
Says Feinberg: ``It's such a tragedy. Our hearts go out to the family.''
