NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City's fire commissioner says hiring and training will be reduced, and four companies will be closed overnight, due to the financial crisis.
The Fire Department is trying to trim more than $60 million from its budget.
It hopes to save $8.9 million by closing the four companies overnight.
The companies cover parts of lower Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn and the Bronx. The department says trucks from other companies can still get there in time because overnight traffic is light.
The Giants and Jets football teams will have a new home next season. Check out these photographs of taken over the new stadium in the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ by Tom Kaminski in Chopper 880 on Monday, November 23, 2009.
