NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- It's that time of year again when hats and gloves are worn, and strolling around the city looking at the holiday lights is the thing to do.
We've compiled a list of Christmas Trees around the city for you to check out and relax with a cup of hot cocoa in hand. (If you know of a tree that we haven't listed, let me know about it! Email me at rgeyer@wcbs880.com with the details and a link)
Bryant Park - Right in the heart of Manhattan, The Bryant Park Tree is up and twinkling next to a free ice skating rink. On Tuesday, WCBS-TV hosted the tree lighting event with a star-studded program.
Rockefeller Center - The most well-known tree in the city is the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. The process begins when a tree is picked from around the area and transported into the city. Finally, the tree lights up after much fanfare and celebration. Don't forget to go skating in the rink while you're there!
Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Hall - If you've had enough of the cold air, head inside of the American Museum of Natual History and check out the annual Origami Tree. You can also have fun skating around their Polar Rink and don't miss theKwanzaa celebration on December 28th.
Lincoln Center Tree - The official lighting of the Lincoln Center Tree was December 1st with their Winter's Eve Celebration. But, that doesn't mean you've missed out on all the fun! The tree will be up through the holidays, and you may want to catch a show while you're at it.
Annual Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche - In the mood for something a little bit more lush and opulent, head over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and gaze upon their ornaments and 18th century -style Nativity scene.
Flanders Duck - This isn't in New York City, but I can't help myself! This duck looks like it could be worth the trip just to get a picture next to a giant white duck with a lighted garland around its neck.
South Street Seaport - Thank you to Susan who pointed me in this beautiful tree's direction! Head down to the tip of Manhattan for a great site and view...plus lots of activities during the month of December.
St. John the Divine - According to About.com, this Cathedral will be putting up a peace tree decorated with paper cranes. I've never seen it, so take a picture and send it to me!
