Top 10 Ice Skating Rinks Around New York City!

rgeyer@wcbs880.com

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- Ah, another winter weekend is here and what better time to go ice skating than now!

We have pulled together a list of local New York City ice skating rinks for you to head over to and have fun with your friends and family. Some are free, some have a fee... but, all are guaranteed a good time :)

If there's a rink that we haven't put on the list, let me know about it! Email me at rgeyer@wcbs880.com

Rockefeller Center - Skate beneath the Christmas Tree and meet new people! Be prepared to meet locals and tourists alike.

Bryant Park - Smack in the middle of the city, and surrounded by skyscrapers, this beautiful park has a skating rink that is free! Don't forget to grab yourself a cider and a snack in one of the shops around the rink.

Wollman Rink at Central Park - This is "can't miss" attraction for everyone. First dates, little kids, groups of friends...fun for all. Even if you aren't the biggest skater, this rink always has folks who skate wonderfully and they are great to watch.

American Natural History Museum - Skate at the Polar Rink! Good times during the day, great times at night when all the lights are lit. If you just want to watch, there are snacks and hot cocoa in the North Galleria.

Chelsea Piers - Of course the activity hub of NYC is going to have an ice rink! Skating school, hockey lessons, even birthday parties are all taking place at the Sky Rink.

Madison Square Garden - We snuck this one in the list because it is a huge rink where the New York Rangers play...but, we're not quite sure if you can skate on it. This rink is for those who feel a little wobbly on the ice and don't mind just watching the pros.

Coney Island - Who knew Coney Island wasn't just for summertime fun!

Queens World Fair - If you don't feel like driving into the city, just get over to the Worlds Fair Rink in Queens. Hosted by the NYC Parks Department prices are reasonable and the space is great.

Staten Island War Memorial - We can't leave out Staten Island! Check out this ice rink at Clove Lakes Park.

Jersey City - Branching out of NYC just a little bit...Newport Skates is a great place for kids in New Jersey. Easily accessible from PATH, NJ Transit and more.
