Former Clinton Aide to Support NYC Mayor's Campaign
|
NEW YORK (AP) -- The chief spokesman for Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign is going to try and win a third term for New York City's mayor.
Howard Wolfson says he will join Mayor Michael Bloomberg's re-election campaign next year as a communications strategist. He says he's excited to help the billionaire businessman run again at a critical time in city history.
After years of supporting term limits, Bloomberg said he would like to run for a third term next year to help shepherd the city through an economic crisis.
City Council voted in October to change term limits law, allowing the mayor to run for re-election. His likely opponents include U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner and city Comptroller William Thompson.
