$21,000 Diamond Stolen from NJ Jewlery Store

PARAMUS, N.J. (AP)  -- Police say a man stole a $21,000 diamond from a New Jersey jewelry store by posing as a customer.

LISTEN: WCBS Reporter Levon Putney reports

The man asked to see the loose diamond at Littman Jewelers in Paramus Park mall on Tuesday afternoon, police said. Once he had it in his hand, authorities said, he took off.

Witnesses gave conflicting accounts of which way he went.

Authorities say they'll used fingerprints and surveillance camera footage to try to catch the man, who also visited the store about two weeks ago.
