Businessman Michael Ricatto said in a statement released on Tuesday that he was ``deeply saddened'' by the accident that killed the boy, Ibrihim Ahmed.
Ahmed was struck by the bus in the intersection of Cross Bay Boulevard and Liberty Avenue in Queens about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested the bus driver on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
Ricatto's campaign was using the bus to promote him as a candidate in a special election for a City Council seat being vacated by state Sen.-elect Joseph Addabbo Jr.
