NeW YORK (WCBS) -- Carroll Gardens is not just a Brooklyn neighborhood with a mellifluous name. It is now home to a culinary "complex" started by the two Franks of Frankies Spuntino fame (which is located right down the street). It's called Prime Meats and will include a speakeasy, a restaurant, a retail store and more. It's a blend of the old and the new and people are buzzing about it.
The food is served "Spuntino" style, which means incrementally--think steak tartare by the ounce and lamb by the chop. And everything is local...from the Jersey tomatoes to the grass-fed Upstate NY beef.
The Franks did a lot of research (two years actually) in central Europe where their inspiration came from establishments that serve locally produced ingredients and impeccably mixed cocktails. Well, it paid off. Prime Meats in an empire worth delving into.
