Fire Truck Stuck in Sinkhole

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- Right now firefighters are trying to extricate Engine 74, which has its front passenger side tire 4 to 6 inches in a hole that has opened up here on the ground.

This is 76th street between Columbus and Central Park West. The hole is maybe 12 to 18 inches wide and maybe 3 feet long and it's pretty deep.

SLIDESHOW: Stuck Fire Truck

Firefighters are working on this. There are probably a half dozen of them lying on their bellies putting wood beams under the front bumper of the truck and jacking it up.

The idea is to get that wheel up to street level. This is quite a scene here all these firefighters and truck that has not been swallowed by a sink hole, but has certainly been held up by one.
