Founded in 1966, Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO) is a private non-profit organization that helps individuals develop the skills to start, grow, and manage successful businesses through workshops that are designed to be the equivalent of a simplified MBA program. The full 16-week workshop curriculum includes sessions on sales and marketing, financial analysis, raising capital, financial management, human resources management, legal and ethical matters, financial literacy, and personal finance. After an individual has completed the workshop, he/she receives regular long-term follow up to ensure that all graduates have the tools they need for success. While the market value of this course is $1000, WIBO charges only $199 per person. Devoted volunteers and a generous community of sponsors and individuals help keep the cost manageable for people who have limited resources while starting or growing a business.
