CT Health Officials Report 6th Swine Flu Death

HARTFORD, CT (AP)  -- Connecticut health officials say a sixth state resident has died after contracting swine flu.

The Public Health Department would only say the person was a New Haven County resident in his or her 40s who died recently after going to a hospital and had other health problems.

The agency says testing has confirmed that 824 state residents have had swine flu, including 36 who were hospitalized. Most of the patients have recovered. Officials say the number of swine flu cases is probably much higher because most people with mild symptoms do not seek medical attention.

Public Health Commissioner J. Robert Galvin says people should continue washing their hands often, covering their coughs and taking other precautions.
