Fort Lee Guidance Counselor Caught Tampering with Grades

FORT LEE, NJ (AP)  -- A high school guidance counselor in northern New Jersey has been accused of tampering with student transcripts.

Fort Lee police say Judith Meller of Fort Lee was arrested Wednesday, charged with falsifying or tampering with records. She was released on her own recognizance.

Fort Lee School District officials discovered in February that grades had been changed or deleted on some students' transcripts. Administrators say records of six students were affected this year.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says the 61-year-old Meller acted alone in the grade tampering.

A call placed to Meller's home phone number went unanswered Wednesday afternoon.
