Ocean City Curfew Could Be Back
|
OCEAN CITY, N.J. (AP) -- One of New Jersey's main shore resorts may be about to resume closing its beaches at 10 p.m.
Ocean City had long had a curfew but dropped it last year as a condition for participating in a state beach-replenishment program. But the New Jersey Supreme Court has since struck down the condition.
The city council has scheduled a vote Thursday for bringing the curfew back.
Council members say keeping people off the beaches between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. makes it easier to break up parties and keep the noise down in a town known for family friendliness.
The curfew would take effect July 29.
