Former Budget Official Gets Probation for Underage Sex
MINEOLA, NY (AP) -- A former Long Island budget official has been sentenced to probation for having sex with a 16-year-old who told him she was 18.
Owen Sinclair of Oceanside, N.Y., pleaded guilty in March to endangering the welfare of a child.
Sinclair was fired from his $100,000-a-year job as North Hempstead's deputy director of finance.
The Nassau County district attorney's office says the Brooklyn girl pleaded guilty to criminal impersonation after repeatedly lying to police about her age. She has been sentenced to community service.
