NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The plastic straps are snapping on the lawn chairs in Times Square.
LISTEN: Ginny Kosola reports from Times Square
Jackie, a tourist from Ireland, has a theory.
He says, "They could be a bit more substantial... or... there's too many heavy fellows sitting on them."
Norma Frank of Port St. Lucie, Florida saw a chair collapse under her husband Mitch.
She says, "If anybody would like to chip in for a new pair of pants and possibly a new knee..."
But Mitch still liked the experience.
He said, "This is unbelievable, uh, to be able to sit in Times Square."
I responded, "...and you weren't seriously hurt?"
Mitch replied, "Not really. No."
The Times Square Alliance says better quality chairs should be in place by mid-August.
