|
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Wal-Mart is expanding a recall of Durabrand DVD players to include more than 4 million devices.
The company says it's making the move after receiving seven reports of products overheating that led to fires and property damage.
The consumer Product Safety Commission says there were no injuries reported.
Wal-Mart sold the Durabrand DVD players, which are made in China, exclusively from January 2006 through July 2009.
The company previously recalled 1.5 million silver DVD players on August 20th, and expanded it to include pink and purple players.
(The recall involves a DVD player with a remote control. The electronic device has a U-shaped opening at the top to insert the DVD. The colored players have the following product codes and model numbers:
_Silver players have UPC 1799901002, model number 1002.
_Pink players have UPC 1799934100, model number 1002 PINK.
_Purple players have UPC 1799932100, model number 1002 PUR.
The safety commission said consumers should stop using the DVD player and return it to Wal-Mart for a refund. Details: by phone at 800-925-6278; by Web at http://www.walmartstores.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.)
