Long Island Cleans Up from Wind Damage

HUNTINGTON, NY (WCBS 880)  -- People I'm talking to tell me the wind seemed to come from nowhere.

HuntingtonLISTEN:
Mike Xirinachs reports from Huntington

Sudden 50 mile per hour wind gusts blew down trees and knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses.

Fallen trees still block some roads and there are still some without electricity, but most of the damage is now repaired and power restored.

One South Hempstead homeowner suffered minor injuries after a wind gust lifted and destroyed his portable car port.

The clean up is continuing.
