(CBS) - 65% of Americans plan to cut back on holiday spending, according to the results of a new Consumer Reports poll. The survey shows the decreases will impact purchases of clothing, electronics, gift cards, monetary presents and jewelry.

(CBS) - House Democrats should release their version of a health care bill today. It would require employers to offer insurance to employees or face penalties and it would fine Americans who don't purchase coverage.
STIMULUS JOBS...
(AP) - A review of jobs created or saved by the federal economic recovery plan shows some of the numbers are overstated. The administration says recovery money has helped pay for more than 30,000 jobs, but an Associated Press review of data finds that number is overstated by thousands - at the very least by nearly 5,000.

(CBS) - A Senate Commerce subcommittee holds a hearing on the NTSB today. NTSB chair Deborah Hersman is among the scheduled witnesses. Families of the victims of Continental flight 3407--the plane that crashed in suburban Buffalo last February, killing 50--plan to attend to demand more stringent pilot qualifications.
