NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A Long Island woman with severe food allergies hopes the community will stand behind her in an effort to keep five ducks living in her backyard.
WCBS Reporter Sophia Hall is in Nina Tam's backyard where there is a little pond, a small white house and a fence surrounding the property.
This is where Tam keeps Little Beyonce and her four pals.
They are ducks that Tam purchased because she has severe food allergies to chicken eggs, she breaks out into rashes and bumps on her body.
The solution? Duck eggs.
The problem is, the Town of Huntington Station, Long Island does not allow a person to own ducks.
"Only one person complained, everyone else is for the ducks. They bring the children here to look," said Tam.
Tam says 500 people signed a petition to allow her to keep the ducks. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for November 5th.
"They are very good animals," said Tam.
Hall says in the hour she visited Tam's house, the ducks did not make a peep...or a quack.
