STAMFORD, CT (AP) -- Police in Connecticut say a 12-year-old boy shot a younger child with a BB gun in Stamford while trying to rob the victim and a friend of their Halloween candy.
Police say the boy and two other youths approached two 11-year-old boys at an apartment complex off Connecticut Avenue at about 6 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say the younger boys didn't have any treats, and the 12-year-old shot one boy in the back and fired at the other but missed.
The boy who was shot was not seriously injured.
The shooter was charged with assault, attempted robbery, possession of a facsimile firearm and risk of injury to a minor. His name was not released because of his age. He was referred to juvenile court.
