New York City Robbery Suspect Posing as Deliveryman
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City police are hunting for a Manhattan thief who poses as a deliveryman to get inside apartments where he ties residents up and makes off with their cash and electronics.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says no one has been injured in the five robberies. All took place in October and November in Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side. Kelly says the man, between 50 and 60, wears khaki and gets inside the homes by pretending to be a deliveryman. Police say he displays a knife in some of the robberies.
In one case, Kelly says a cleaning woman left the apartment to take out the garbage and came back to find him inside.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the Crimestoppers hot line at 800-577-TIPS.
