Trish Bergin was the top vote-getter among four candidates seeking two open seats on the town council.
The former reporter for Cablevision-owned News 12 ran as an independent. But she also had ballot lines from the Republican and Conservative parties, and the ``Tea Party'' movement.
In addition to working for News12 Long Island, Bergin has been a reporter for WCBS-TV in New York, as well as the nationally syndicated ``Inside Edition.''
Supporters included her friend, Billy Joel. The ``Piano Man'' donated $2,350 to her campaign.
