Republican Ed Hill was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, after Utica police said he hit a poll worker during a shoving match with Democratic opponent Frank Vescera.
Deputy Police Chief Mark Williams says Hill ``chest-bumped'' Vescera and then shoved poll worker Michael Colon and punched him in the face. Police say Colon had jumped in to the break up the fight. He was not injured.
Hill says the allegation isn't true. He declined to discuss details of incident when contacted Wednesday morning.
Final election results are pending.
