The 411 Stories of the Day - Tuesday, November 17, 2009

OBAMA POLL...
(CBS) - President Barack Obama is being greeted warmly in China, but back in the U.S. his overall approval rating has slipped to 53 percent, according to a new CBS News poll. Approval for his handling of the situation in Afghanistan has dropped as well; more Americans now disapprove than approve.

CHILD CUSTODY...
(CBS) - A study shows that women are losing child custody battles more often, with fathers seeking sole custody winning at least 50% of contested cases. The study comes from Working Mother Magazine.

INFLATION...
(CBS) - The Labor Department releases the main gauge of inflation at the wholesale level, the Producer Price Index.

BERNIE'S BOATS...
(CBS) - It turns out Bernie Madoff owned more vessels than the navy of Mongolia. Today Madoff's's 23-foot "Little Bull," 38-foot "Sitting Bull" and 55-foot yacht "The Bull" go on the auction block in Fort Lauderdale. The floating assets were seized by the U.S. Marshals Service last year and the proceeds from the auction will go to Madoff's victims.
