PATERSON, NJ (AP) -- A man who went to a northern New Jersey club to celebrate his recent birthday with friends was killed there when a gunman opened fire early Saturday.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the shooting at the El Tipico Bar in Paterson, and police said they had few leads regarding a possible suspect in the slaying of 26-year-old Larry Reed.
The club was filled with people, including many who were attending various birthday parties being held there, authorities said.
Reed -- a Paterson resident who had turned 26 earlier this week -- was shot twice at about 2 a.m. and died at the scene a short time later.
