It's Busy, Busy, Busy at the Hunts Point Market

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- If the way to a person's heart is through the stomach, the way to the stomach is through Hunts Point.

Today is known as the busiest day of the year at the reknowned produce marketplace.

LISTEN: Paul Murnane reports from the Bronx

I asked, "So what do we have in here?"

The reply: "This here is a mix of citrus and then you got vegetables over here on this wall here."

In the store you use a shopping cart. Here, you grab a fork lift.

"Fuel, the way it is - prices are high. Stuff is high. The weather, we had bad weather in California, bad weather down in Florida."

Michael McGinty and the rest at E-Armada Fruit and Produce are working, working, working.

Allen is on the job buying for some grocery retailers. He lists them: "Strawberry, raspberry, cranberries for the Thanksgiving."

He went on to say, "I love this business, yes... It's just like being in Atlantic City. It's all a gamble."
