Connecticut Sex Offender Arrested for Having Over 500 Images of Child Pornography on Cell Phone
BROOKLYN, CT (AP) -- Connecticut state police say they arrested a registered sex offender after finding more than 500 images of child pornography on his cell phone.
Troopers say they found the images Sunday afternoon while helping federal officers perform a probation compliance check of 35-year-old Stephen Festa at his home in Brooklyn, Conn.
State police say Festa is on probation as a registered sex offender, related to a federal conviction in June 2007. Details of that conviction were not released.
Festa was held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending arraignment in Danielson Superior Court on Monday. He's charged with importing child pornography and possessing child pornography.
Festa couldn't be reached for comment, and it's not clear if he has a lawyer.
