Wind Power Now Being Generated in Rockland County
Rockland County has it's first energy producing windmill. It's on the West Nyack campus of BOCES - which is the Board of Cooperative Educational Services. It began spinning on Friday. BOCES director of facilities - Ed Gray - says his state agency has already installed solar panels on some buildings in the move to alternative energy.
Electric Ferry Unveiled In New York City
A solar and wind powered hybrid electric ferry has been unveiled.      Circle Line, the ferry operator that provides service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, showed the model of the hybrid vessel. 
NYC Taxis Going Green by 2012
The city's fleet of yellow cabs will go entirely hybrid within five years, and all new taxis will have to meet emissions and mileage standards by next year, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday. Today, there are just 375 fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles among the 13,000 taxis rolling on city streets.
Yonkers-to-Manhattan Water Taxi Service Starts Up Tuesday
Those who commute from Yonkers to Manhattan have a new means of getting there beginning tomorrow. New York Water Taxi service begins in the morning between Yonkers, the World Trade Center and Wall Street's Pier 11. The service will be inaugurated today with events in Yonkers and Manhattan. During May, New York Water taxi is offering passengers a free ride to inaugurate the service.
JP Morgan Chase To Move In at New World Trade Center
JP Morgan Chase & Co. agreed long ago to become the first private company to occupy office space at the World Trade Center site. But negotiations over tax incentives and other perks went on for months, officials have said - and the bank suggested it would leave New York for Connecticut or New Jersey if an acceptable deal couldn't be struck.
