E-Mail Story Print Story Text Size:   A   A   A Email Story Posted: Monday, 25 June 2007 7:48PM NY Looks For Federal Help in Congestion Plan WASHINGTON (AP)  -- New York officials met with the nation's transportation chief trying to win funding for Mayor Michael Bloomberg's congestion pricing plan for Manhattan.     City and state transportation officials made their pitch to Transportation Secretary Mary Peters, hoping to become one of five cities to get hundreds of millions of dollars in federal aid for traffic-easing experiments.     City transportation commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan says federal support is crucial to enacting the congestion pricing plan, variations of which have already been launched in London and Singapore.     Sadik-Khan was joined by state development secretary Timothy Gilchrist to make the case to the federal authorities.     Bloomberg's plan for New York would charge tolls to enter the busiest parts of Manhattan, drivers would pay eight dollars to enter Manhattan south of 86th Street on weekdays between six a-m and six p-m.
