Record Electrical Demand in New Jersey

NEWARK (AP)  -- New Jersey's largest utility is breaking a demand record.

Public Service Electric and Gas says the record will likely continue to be broken through the rest of the afternoon.

PSE&G says there are no problems.

Power plants are cranking out the megawatts to keep pace with demand as New Jerseyans keep their air conditioners and fans running.

Power companies across the state say that while heat or possible lightning strikes could cut power in some spots, they're ready to restore service.
